Recovery console

The recovery console starts when the system cannot boot normally, or when it is selected from the boot menu.

Common tasks

Check the filesystem

Reinstall the bootloader

Verify installed packages
nvx verify --all
Reset user password
passwd <user>
Reboot
reboot

If the system still fails

  1. Note the stop code shown on the failure screen.
  2. Look it up on the stop codes page.
  3. Re-write the installation media and reinstall if the disk image is damaged.
