Filesystem

NoovexOS uses FAT32 as its primary on-disk filesystem, giving straightforward interoperability with other systems and with recovery media.

Package manager

Software is distributed as .nvx packages. Every package is signed; the package manager verifies the signature before installing, and refuses packages whose signature or hash does not match.

UAC

Privileged operations raise a User Account Control prompt. Nothing that touches system state proceeds without explicit confirmation at the console.

Cryptography and security

• TLS 1.3 with X25519 key exchange, AES-GCM and ChaCha20-Poly1305 ciphers, SNI and ALPN.
• SHA-256 hashing for package and image verification.
• Signed boot chain and signed .nvx packages.
• No telemetry, no advertising identifiers, no background reporting.

• NoovexOS browser (HTML/CSS/JS engine, PNG/JPEG/WebP images, TLS 1.3, HTTP GET and POST).
• Terminal and recovery console.
• DOOM.
• Package manager, text editor, file manager.

Browser engine notes

The bundled browser renders static and mostly-static pages: headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, blockquotes, preformatted text, links and images, with CSS variables, media queries and a dark mode toggle. It does not implement the live DOM API, form submission or cookies, so JavaScript applications that build themselves at runtime will not render. This text edition of the website is written to stay inside those limits.
